At RT Energy Group our goal is to promote the development of renewable energy and maximize its benefits in the direction of a sustainable and bright future for upcoming generations.
Following the saying: “Filling two needs with one deed” our current project agrivoltaic farming is not only tackling the threats of climate change, but also the challenges of rising hunger and malnutrition.
What is Agrivoltaic farming?
Agrivoltaic farming or Agrivoltaics refers to the simultaneous use of land for power generation through solar photovoltaic and agriculture. This can be achieved by three methods. Either by solar arrays with space in between for crops, stilted solar panels positioned on top of crops or by creating a greenhouse made of semi-transparent solar panels for crops.

Benefits of Agrivoltaic farming
- Agrivoltaics increases land-use efficiency by enabling the possibility of using fertile farmland for solar farms as well.
- Solar panels provide an additional protection mechanism by shielding plants from excessive heat, cold and UV damage leading to higher crop yields
- Evaporation underneath solar panels leads to a cooling effect to photovoltaic facilities which enhances the power generation efficiency in total and therefore boosting the electricity production.
- Additionally, panels help to conserve dwindling freshwater supplies by reducing evaporation from both plants and soil.
- Current research indicates by using agrivoltaics farming can increase crop quality resulting in more appealing outcomes for consumers.
